Phoenix police are searching for a stolen piece of equipment that contains radioactive material and are asking anyone who comes across it to alert authorities. A commercial business located near 34th Street and Broadway Road notified police on June 16 that several items used in construction had been stolen, according to a statement from Phoenix Police on Thursday. Detectives recently learned that one of the items stolen was a soil density meter, which contains three types of radioactive material, the statement said. If the shell of the equipment is removed, anyone nearby would be exposed to levels of radiation, according to the statement.
