Israel Braces for Justice Court Gaza Ruling as Gallant Pledges Military Effort ‘Strengthening’

JERUSALEM, Israel – Israel is vowing “no power on earth will stop Israel from protecting its citizens and going after Hamas in Gaza,” while it braces for a ruling Friday from the International Court of Justice.

Some analysts say it’s possible the court will accept a petition by South Africa that Israel “cease its military operations in the Gaza Strip,” including its offensive in Rafah.

Before the court could issue its ruling, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared the military campaign in Rafah would intensify.

“We are strengthening our effort in Rafah. This operation will increase, more forces from the ground, more forces from the air, maneuver, and we will reach our goals  – to hit Hamas very hard, to deprive its military capabilities,” Gallant explained.

The Israel Defense Forces continue to advance in Rafah, the last major stronghold of Hamas. 

The petition by South Africa alleges Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The court may also issue orders to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza.

While the IDF continues to make progress in Rafah, other European nations are considering recognizing a Palestinian state.
