Justin Trudeau tasks minister with addressing ‘environmental racism’

OTTAWA, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday told the House of Commons that he had “mandated the Minister of the Environment” to go ahead with an initiative geared at fighting “environmental racism.”

Minister of the Environment Steven Guilbeault tweeted a video of Trudeau’s support and wrote: Environmental racism is an issue our government takes very seriously. Everyone, regardless of their background, is entitled to a healthy environment. #BillC226 aligns with our Government’s mandate commitments and ensures that environmental racism is addressed and prevented.”

The bill put forth was a reintroduction of a former bill that was edited after it failed to pass. The current iteration of the “environmental justice” bill was tabled by former Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May.
