Two weeks to slow the spread? US liberal arts college reimposes COVID mandates as fall 2023 semester begins

ATLANTA, Georgia (LifeSiteNews) – A private college in Georgia began its fall 2023 semester last week. The following Sunday, the administration reimposed full COVID-19 mask, social distancing, and isolation mandates supposedly for the next two weeks. 

Morris Brown College, a Methodist liberal arts institution in Atlanta, announced on Sunday that mandates will temporarily be in full force, “effective immediately,” citing “reports of positive cases among students in the Atlanta University Center.” The number of positive cases was not included in the announcement. 

“All students and employees are required to wear face masks (staff may remove in their offices while alone),” reads a message from university president Dr. Kevin James that was posted on Facebook. “Students must maintain physical distancing.” 

During the pandemic, general “distancing “requirements were remaining six feet apart from others. Additionally, “no parties or large student events on campus” will occur for at least the next 14 days. The mandates include isolation and quarantine policies dictated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), participation in “contact tracing” and symptom monitoring that includes requiring each student and
