(Updates at Bottom) In the past couple of years ‘assistant’ technology has grown drastically from Siri and Cortana to the Echo or the Google Home, but now, meet Duo. The creepy new mirror that not only will watch you undress but will also dish out the latest news, control your house’s climate, monitor your calendar, and more.

Assistant technology is not new, but the application for such has grown dramatically as sensors have shrunk and as machine learning has grown. Artificial Intelligence is in large part considered the technology of tomorrow, and AI is deemed to be the technology that the ruling elite will use to monitor and control its citizens.

To further prove the reality of just how bad this could be, several smart TVs by makers such as Vizio have been spying on their users and collecting their data, but then to make matters even worse Wikileaks busted the doors off of the intelligence agencies ‘tool shed’ that the CIA used to bug devices such as iPhones, Android phones, and PCs running Microsoft Windows.

Why couldn’t the Echo answer one simple question? What was Amazon’s Echo trying to hide? Interestingly enough, Jeff Bezos, the Owner of Amazon, the maker of the Echo, happens to have a $600 million contract with the CIA.

None of these devices are necessarily used in the intimate moments of saying getting dressed or sleeping, but mirrors, on the other hand, have a much ‘wider’ view of what is going on behind closed doors. Echo and Google can hear but have no eyes to see, which is where this device takes creepy and privacy violations to a whole new level.

The Duo is currently not out in stores, and it is not owned and operated by Apple or Microsoft. Instead, it runs its own Operating System. However, smaller companies these days are being purchased by the tech giants as if a fire sale had commenced. One reason being that AI is the future of technology. AI will mend with the human mind, AI will dominate the job market, and AI will take over your decision processes.

We as a human race have to take a stand against the Artificial Intelligence takeover. How bad is it? Jack Ma founder of Alibaba claims that the future will be filled with “decades of pain” because of internet disruption.

“In the next 30 years, the world’s pain will be much greater than its happiness,” Ma said at an entrepreneurial conference in Zhengzhou, China. “Social conflicts over the next 30 years will hugely impact every industry.”

Ma then went on to say; “Machines should only do what humans cannot,” Ma said, adding “only in this way can we have the opportunities to keep machines as working partners with humans, rather than as replacements.”

Jack Ma also stated that “Fifteen years ago I gave speeches 200 or 300 times reminding everyone the internet will impact all industries, but people didn’t listen because I was nobody.”

The internet/AI impact is still not directly in the forefront as of yet. However, technology is on an exponential timeline, and each day, these days, there is a new development. What is often left untouched is the impact that it will have on humanity, and by the time everybody realizes it will be far too late.

Amazon’s new AI assistant will watch you in your home – but also rate your outfits – The Independent

(AATIF SULLEYMAN) — Amazon has just unveiled the Echo Look, the latest addition to its range of voice-enabled assistants.

Unlike its predecessors, the Look is equipped with a camera, which means it can watch, as well as listen to, its users.

It sounds potentially creepy, but the company is marketing the Echo Look as a sort of fashion assistant, and says the device can be used to help you choose an outfit.

“Get a live view in the Echo Look app or ask Alexa to take a short video so you can see yourself from every angle,” says Amazon.

You can also get it to take a full-body picture of you by saying “Alexa, take a picture”.

According to Amazon, the Look’s “depth-sensing” camera is built to capture photographs that are good enough to be shared on social media sites. – Read More
