The most recent documented act of Christian persecution in China occurred on the 9th of March when Chinese authorities forced their way into Shangqiu Catholic Church South Cathedral in Henan Province to turn off the electricity and forcibly close priests and nuns in the building while they used a crane to remove crosses.
While the specter of a nuclear war with North Korea has faded in recent weeks, China is not taking chances, and ahead of the Winter Olympics in South Korea, the Chinese government has deployed 300,000 troops and multiple mobile strike groups to its highly-guarded border with North Korea, a move which signals that Beijing is quietly gearing for a potential crisis between Kim Jong Un and the United States in the coming months.
The Republic of Korea (ROK) said on Monday it was in talks with Washington about holding joint drills with the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group as it approaches waters off the Korean peninsula amid fears the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) could conduct another nuclear test.
