Description:

Eighteen passengers had a close shave when an express bus from Kuantan, Pahang heading to Perlis skidded at the 82.3km stretch of the North-South Expressway near the Gurun Rest and Recreation (R and R) area here early Saturday. In the 6am incident, the front left tyre of the bus burst, causing the bus to skid and crash into the divider on the left, before it came to a halt near an oil palm plantation. Bus driver Lazzuan Ishak, 39, said a passenger who was seated in the front sustained injuries on the face, upon knocking against the windscreen. "After the bus hit the divider, I managed to steer it from ramming into several trees before the vehicle came to a halt near the oil palm plantation," he said when met at the scene of the accident here. Kuala Muda police chief ACP Khalil Arifin confirmed the incident.
