OTTAWA, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — Canada’s federal police force is slated to spend over $15 million in taxpayer funds to analyze “race-based data to address systemic racism” within the profession.
According to a May 5 Question on the Order Paper filed in the House of Commons by Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) John Brassard, taxpayers will fund a $15,200,000 project to examine racism within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
“This project will collect, analyze and communicate race-based data to address systemic racism and discrimination and to improve the cultural awareness of employees and the ability to provide culturally competent policing,” the note obtained by True North reads.
The effort is expected to continue until March 31, 2027.
“Race-based data collection is a priority modernization initiative for the RCMP. The collection of this information is imperative to understanding the experiences of Indigenous, Black and racialized individuals and communities during their interactions with RCMP,” Cpl.
