The Las Cruces Catholic Diocese, the governing structure of all of the Catholic Churches in Southern New Mexico, is placing the ‘Weeping’ Virgin Mary statue at Hobbs Church under investigation.
Parishioners have recently stated that tears have streamed down the face of the statue which is located at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
The statue has drawn visitors from all over with one person driving from Denver to see the apparent ‘miracle.’
According to the Las Cruces Sun-News, the diocese will, at first, attempt to see if the tears are of a supernatural origin, according to Bishop Oscar Cantu, the tears will be tested in a laboratory.
After the initial tests are conducted then the diocese will determine the message; “If it is supernatural, then is it God? Or is it of an evil spirit? We do believe in the fallen angels,â he said, âand we renounce the fallen angels because we believe from the scriptures that theyâre frustrated and they want to make everyone else frustrated – and sometimes they use things, they can be rather cunning,â the bishop stated.
