UK gov’t website discouraged COVID jab for pregnant, breastfeeding women as officials urged it

(LifeSiteNews) — The U.K. government has been urging pregnant and breastfeeding women to get the COVID-19 vaccine contrary to the guidelines on the official government website.  

Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, the public advice has been that everyone eligible should be vaccinated against COVID-19. However, the “Summary of Public Assessment” on the government’s website has indicated that it is a health risk for pregnant and breastfeeding women to receive the Pfizer vaccine.  

“Sufficient reassurance of safe use of the vaccine in pregnant women cannot be provided at the present time,” the document states even in its most recent update on August 16. “Women who are breastfeeding should also not be vaccinated.” 

That mixed information is being distributed to the public was widely shared on Twitter by Dr. Norman Fenton, who has since been suspended from the platform. Fenton, a British professor in risk information management, published the post on his blog detailing the news. 

Fenton suggested that the government has not changed any of its policies regarding the safety of the vaccine for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
